Joseph Batiano

Licensed Mental Health Counselor @State of Rhode Island

Batiano, Deaf himself, was recently the 2018-2019 Rhode Island School Counselor of the Year. The first deaf recipient of such award locally and nationally. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the State of Rhode Island and a National Certified Counselor, is a school counselor for Rhode Island School for the Deaf with over fifteen years of experience with providing counseling services ranging from individual, family, and/or group therapy. Batiano graduated from Gallaudet University with Master of Arts Degree was obtained in School Counseling with Mental Health Emphasis. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with Honors. Batiano had multiple articles published related to the profession. He travels around the country providing presentations on topics ranging from providing appropriate services for the Deaf or utilizing creative techniques in counseling. Batiano is a member of a variety of associations pertaining to the field of counseling and Deafness.

 

Chandrai Jackson-Saunders

M.Ed., C.A.G.S., NCSP, 2020 National School Psychologist of the Year @District of Columbia Public Schools

Chandrai Jackson-Saunders is a nationally certified school psychologist in the DC Public School System. Since 1986, she has provided counseling and support services to elementary, middle and high school students and their families. For 13 years, Ms. Jackson-Saunders has served as the School Psychologist at Garfield Preparatory Academy. She and her Garfield Behavior Instructional Leadership Team teach social-emotional learning at the school. She is the recipient of the Trailblazer’s Award and was named National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) 2020 School Psychologist of the Year, becoming the first African-American woman to win the award in its twenty-year history. Ms. Jackson-Saunders is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where she attained her undergraduate degree in Psychology, and Howard University, where she received her Masters Degree in Educational Psychology with a concentration on Gifted Curriculum & CAGS in School Psychology.

 

Rachel Webb

MSW, PPSC, Sacramento City Unified School District

Rachel Webb, MSW, PPSC. Rachel began her career in education 20 years ago and has been a school social worker in the Sacramento City Unified School District for 17 years, the most recent 10 years at Leataata Floyd Elementary School. She has served students, families, and staff at multiple school sites across the district with focus on social and emotional learning, restorative justice, trauma sensitive practices, mindfulness, and crisis preparedness and response.

 

Chi Kim

Chief Executive Officer, Pure Edge Inc.

Chi was named Chief Executive Officer in March 2018 after serving as Chief Strategy & Operations Officer since 2016. Prior to joining Pure Edge, Inc., she was a California school superintendent as well as a former school principal, teacher, leadership coach and has served as a program officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She is co-founder of the Teaching Garden program that was adopted by the American Heart Association to support heart health through school gardens.

Chi is a 2018 Pahara-Aspen Education Fellow, serves as the Board Chair & Trustee of the Great Minds Board, a member of CASEL Board of Directors, and sits on the advisory councils of SEL4US,  Project Wayfinder, Center for Reaching and Teaching the Whole Child, and Family Code Night / MV GATE. She earned a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. from UCLA, a Tier I Administrative Services credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills and a Tier II Administrative Services credential from Loyola Marymount University. She is mom to three wonderful girls and resides in the greater Boston area.
