University of San Diego will provide EDU credits for Culture of Care course completion. University of San Diego will validate/issue transcripts in graduate level extension credits. As a reminder, it is always up to the student/participant to ensure that their institution will accept this type of continuing education credit. If you are seeking one EDU unit/credit, you must register for this 12-session source at the University of San Diego. This is ONLY if you are seeking one unit of credit for $75 from the University. Attendees can register for Institute 1 through midnight on June 12th. Here is the link to register for either of the sessions. The cost is $75 paid directly to USD.

**MARYLAND RESIDENTS: The course, Culture of Care Self-Care for Educators and Learners, has been approved for one (1) CPD credit until Dec 31, 2025 with the assigned CPD number of 20-68-13. Participants must complete all sessions to earn this credit.

Eve is the Content Director within Headspace for Work, creating new content, inspiring strategy and teaching members about the benefits of meditation and mindfulness. In 2019, Eve became the female voice behind the guided meditations. She is also a Brand Ambassador for Headspace and is a trained mindfulness meditation teacher.

The current pandemic is taking a large toll in human lives.  Dr. Shear will provide a model for understanding grief and adaptation to loss, discuss the unique challenges to adaption posed by a Covid-19 loss, and suggest ways to promote adaptation.

Dr. M. Katherine Shear is the Marion E. Kenworthy Professor of Psychiatry and the founding Director of the Center for Complicated Grief at Columbia School of Social Work. Dr. Shear is a clinical researcher who first worked in anxiety and depression. For the last two decades she has focused on understanding and treating people who experience persistent intense grief. She developed and tested complicated grief therapy (CGT), a short-term targeted intervention and confirmed its efficacy in three large NIMH-funded studies. CGT is strength-based and focused on fostering adaptation to loss. Dr. Shear is widely recognized for her work in bereavement, including both research and clinical awards from the Association for Death Education and Counseling and invited authorship of articles for https://www.uptodate.com/home  and the New England Journal of Medicine.
